Be You, one step at a time

Learn more about Be You, one step at a time, in National Check-Ins

Feb 4, 2021

After registering with Be You as a whole learning community, book a National Check-In.

These engaging sessions will provide useful updates and information about Be You, essential connection opportunities with peers and inspirational stories from learning communities across Australia.

What is a National Check-In all about?  What can I expect when I attend?

The short answer is that it varies every time. They can be organic or more structured.  In general these are informal spaces where you can meet online with a Be You Consultant and other learning communities throughout Australia. You can ask questions, share your experiences with everyone, hear what others are doing or participate by listening.

Attending a National Check-In is a great opportunity for professional conversations - to share and learn from each other.

National Check-Ins in practice

In a recent National Check-In, with six participants from different types of early learning services, one participant started with a question about community gardens. This developed into a conversation about community gardens including stories and ideas about involving parents, sharing recipes, hydroponic gardening, and promoting social and emotional skills.

As a group the Consultant and participants were able to articulate the links to the Be You framework and resources and highlight the impact on mental health and wellbeing of the community.

Knowledge sharing during National Check-Ins

National Check-Ins can have themes such as Educator Wellbeing or Links with Improvement Plans. In a recent session about the BETLS observation tool, two different services shared how they incorporate the BETLS tool in a consistent way. Other participants commented on various aspects they were finding useful.

On another occasion, in a similar session with participants who had not used the BETLS tool, the Consultant introduced a case study for discussion using the BETLS tool and later explored the relevant resources on the website.

There are no expectation, just opportunities

It could be that you are the only one booked in for your National Check In – which is a fantastic opportunity for a one on one discussion with a Consultant.

There are no expectations about what you have done or how you have engaged with Be You, it is just an opportunity to discuss and share ideas.

Book a National Check-In now and bring your Be You questions.
